Ranger Joe has been putting up clear trail markers on Chestnut Mountain, and he has been working to continue to update the paths throughout the woods.

This month Ranger Joe has been working hard to improve forest health by clearing diseased beech trees and continuing his research on hemlock pests.

Ranger Joe has been finding and marking heritage trees throughout Jenkins Woods, researching invasive hemlock pests, and gearing up for deer and bear hunting season.

In addition to trail improvements in preparation for fall member hikes, Ranger Joe has been busy this October rounding up deer, planting saplings, and monitoring remediation efforts.

It's been a busy September for Ranger Joe! From treating Barberry on Chestnut Mountain, treating Knotweed along Buck Hill Creek and caring for the Ash trees in Jenkins Woods, Ranger Joe has been on the move all month.
Garden Party Thank You!
The Garden Party was a fantastic end to a great summer at Buck Hill Falls! Thanks to all who organized, attended and shared their delicious garden recipes!

This month Ranger Joe has been planting tree saplings, ridding the forests of invasive species and diseases and working to establish a new scenic trail on Chestnut Mountain.

This month Ranger Joe has been working with the Trail Gang to clear trails, rid the forests of invasive species and looking for ways to control the emerald ash borer which has been decimating the ash trees in the forest.
2023 Trail Gang
The first trail gang of the 2023 season got off to a great start by maintaining over 10 miles of trails in Jenkins Woods, and on Chestnut and Spruce Mountains.

2023 Annual Members’ Meeting
At the Annual Members’ Meeting, we were pleased to present this year’s Jack Dugan Award to Ed Post for his dedication to the Foundation and contributions to the Accreditation Team which obtained national accreditation from the Land Trust Alliance.

The Buck Hill Conservation Foundation’s Ranger Joe has been busy this month addressing beech tree diseases, exploring the feasibility of new trails on Chestnut Mountain, working on Inn property lawn improvements, and upgrading the Community Garden watering system and new signs for Spruce Mountain.
